What is digital signage?

Since it is going to be the first serious post in my digital signage impact blog, I would like to briefly introduce digital signage technology for those of whom first time hear about it.
    
A simple definition of digital signage is:
    "A form of electronic display that shows information, advertising and other messages" - wikipedia







Rather than static signs, digital signage provides users the ability to display dynamic signs, which enables them put much more contents and interactive features into "one" sign. 






The basic digital signage installation can just consist of a LCD, LED or plasma display screen, a media player, and a basic PC as content management server (CMS). To fulfill a complex application, we may choose one or more industrial grade computers as CMS, alone with robust network equipments, such as routers, switches, fiber optic cables. The following picture is an example of complex digital signage network.

Very interesting article.Some people even do not differentiate among the digital signature and digital signage. I think If they search once on Google then things become clear.I appreciate your attempts
